This 1984 Ford Bronco II is probably one of the most unique Ford Bronco II’s that I’ve ever seen. This Bronco II is finished in brown with yellow and orange stripes, and the paint and body stripes seem to be inspired by the ‘Free Wheelin’ paint and accent stripes that can be seen on this full-size Ford Bronco shown below. The Free Wheelin stripe packages were a Ford Option from 1977-1981.
I would probably choose to replace the wheels on the Bronco II with a set of white wagon wheels like its older big brother is wearing. But then, when was the last time you saw a Bronco II 4×4 sporting a set of these 1973-1984 dog dish style hubcaps? I looked at the sales brochure for 1984 and didn’t see these listed, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the Bronco II couldn’t have been ordered with them.
Another thing that’s amazing about this Bronco II is that huge Bronco II decal on the hood. I have never seen one in person, they’re not shown in the sales brochure, and I haven’t been able to find any advertisements that show this decal. But I can’t help but to believe this was an option when it was new. Even if it was just a dealer option.
This 1984 Ford Bronco II is powered by a 2.8-liter V6 rated at 115 horsepower mated to a four-speed manual transmission and dual-range transfer case. Additional equipment includes swing-away mirrors, a rear liftgate, 15-inch steel wheels, manually locking front hubs, and a push-button AM/FM/cassette stereo.
The front bucket seats and split-folding rear bench are upholstered in tan vinyl with knitted inserts. Dual shifters for the 4-speed manual transmission and manual transfer case sit on top of the transmission hump. The four-spoke steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer and a combination gauge for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery charging status.
